a strong fenced enclosure for the protection of the sheep gathered within it (Nu 32:24; 1Ch 17:7; Ps 50:9; 78:70). In Joh 10:16 the Authorized Version renders by "fold" two distinct Greek words, aule and poimne, the latter of which properly means a "flock," and is so rendered in the Revised Version. In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock.
But I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. Then there will be one flock, one shepherd.
